We located George through the CruiseCritic website. George was waiting for us at the dock and couldn't have been nicer. He spent the day with us showing us the Apollon Temple and Olympia. His insight into each location was great and we had the opportunity to see a lot of the small towns which define the area. We had a great local lunch with George and even got to meet his wonderful family. George's thoughtfulness, recommendations, and insight helped make our day on Katakolon a memorable time. George,
We just want to thank you again for the wonderful tour you gave us. In addition to the sights we listed, Your town, your home and the beach views were an unexpected treat. Please tell your friends at the Aijhn restaurant that we enjoyed the lunch and the wine. I have attached some pictures of our day.
I hope you are able to view them. You made our day in your country special.
All Our best to you and your family.
Till we meet again!

Hi, George! I should have written you before now to tell you how much we enjoyed our tour day with you! Thanks for showing us such a great time.
Attached are some pictures I thought you might enjoy seeing. I especially like the one of your car's bumper with your name, and the one of you waving as you drove away. I was telling someone about our tour in Santorini and how we were made to feel like taxi cab riders opposed to valued tour participants, and how I had this picture of our guide in Katakolon waving goodbye to his friends (us!) when he let us out at the port and how different that was from the Santorini guy who just "dumped" us! Quite a contrast! I can't wait to get back to the Mediterranean some day. We had a wonderful trip, thanks in large part to people like yourself that we met!

Just a quick note to let you know how much Kyle and I enjoyed our short day with you. As you well know, you can only see a very small sample of the country side in the short amount of time we had. Going slow and taking our time seeing the runes and the rest of our time seeing your town and meeting your wonderful family was perfect! We now know what is there and who to call on, when we return. I've attached one of the photos our 'tourist moment, in time'. It's very rare for us do something like this, and in truth a lot of fun. While Kyle lives very close to a beach, no cars are allowed. The closest beach to me is a 10 hour drive, so was especially fun for me. Guess it just shows that some of the simplest things in life can be the most remembered. Take care, Robin

George was more than we could have asked for. His personal touch, terrific English and vast knowledge of his region & country were invaluable in a foreign land. Our time was very well spent with so much we wanted to see in such a short time. Thank you, George! (Σας ευχαριστώ πολύ, George!!!

Hi George
My wife and I wanted to thank you once again for the wonderful tour you provided us. We enjoyed our trip to Katakolon very much - especially our side trip to Chlemoutsi Castle. Your services were excellent - caring, comfortable, and knowledgeable. I am certainly recommending your services to friends who may visit Greece in the near future. Thank you once again.

Thank you so much George for a fantastic day in Katakalon/Olympia. We never would have seen as much by taking a ship's tour as we did with you. Olympia was very interesting and the museum was great. We probably spent a little more time there than we anticipated and with the short time we had before lunch, our friends felt there wasn't the proper amount of time to take you up on your generous offer to see your home, which we all would have enjoyed. The winery tour was excellent and a beautiful location. I hope the puppies are doing well.
Sincerely, your friends in Canada Paul & Judi Klein Joe & Marg Zarin
We have just returned from our Mediterranean Cruise on the Noordam. Our stop in Katakolon was a half day so we booked with George. He was was waiting promptly for us as we exited our ship. His car was clean and comfortable. His English is excellent and we enjoyed conversation with him on the way to Olympia. George was very flexible and told us we could take as long as we wanted at the ruins and museum. Both sights were very well done. Afterwards we went to the town of Olympia for shopping and Baklava. George then took us to an amphitheater to enjoy the view and eat our dessert. He told us about the land, the people, and his family. Finally he showed us his home, where we met his wife and daughter. As a parting gift he and his wife gave us beautiful roses from their garden. The flowers made our cabin smell fantastic. Thank you George for a most enjoyable day in Katakolon.

Thank you again for the lovely day in Katakolon! You showed us a lovely intimate portrait of Greece and the traditional customs and food of Greece. The restaurant was wonderful. You were able to be flexible enough to meet our particular needs and yet do a profssional tour for us. We loved Greece and in particular Katakolon in large measure because of you. Thank you so very much. On behalf of Howard Body, Al Sokol, and me, Roberta Body, we thank you. Good luck to you, George!
Very sincerely, Roberta Body |
